Nokia mobile phone warranty services, limited warranty on Nokia handsets, Nokia Care Protect for mobiles, Nokia DOA/ELF Service

Nokia mobile phone warranty services

When you buy a Nokia handset it automatically comes with a warranty. The Nokia limited warranty provides, free of charge, repairs to your mobile phone for any manufacturing defects.

The warranty period starts at the time of the product's original purchase by the first end-user. Since the product may consist of several different parts, these different parts may be covered by a different warranty period .

The different warranty periods are:

• twelve (12) months for the mobile device and accessories (whether included in the mobile device sales package or sold separately) other than the consumable parts and accessories;
• six (6) months for the consumable parts and accessories: batteries, chargers, desk stands, headsets, cables and covers; and
• ninety (90) days for the media on which any software is provided, e.g. CD-rom, memory card.

Here in Australia you can purchase Nokia Care Protect within one year of when you bought the handset, which adds another 12months to the warranty for the handset and non-consumable accessories.

What isn't covered by warranty?

The Nokia warranty doesn't cover normal wear and tear, even of camera lenses or displays, repairs required after dropping or other accidents to the handsets, or problems resulting from misuse of the handset

Faulty Nokia Accessories

Nokia will replace a faulty Nokia original accessory, which is under warranty, with a new one.

If you have purchased the accessory from a retail outlet, you should take the faulty accessory together with your invoice back to the outlet to get a new replacement.

Nokia DOA/ELF Service

What if you have the bad luck to have your phone malfunction within a few days of purchasing it, or worse, it doesn't work at all? Simple. The handset is covered by Nokia's DOA (dead on arrival) and ELF (early life failure) service and will be replaced when the manufacturer has received the faulty item.

To claim an ELF, the handset must be returned to the supplier within seven days of purchase, with proof of purchase.

If the fault is noticed after seven days, but before the end of Nokia's 30 day DOA period, the handset must be sent back to the manufacturer's authorised repair centre where it will be tested for replacement if DOA or repair under the 12 month repair warranty.
